In Newcastle, around 30% of our red lid general waste bin is food waste. We throw away an average of 2.6kg of food waste per household per week. That's over 135kg per household each year. Across 91妻友, we throw away 8,650 tonnes of food each year, just from our homes.
There are many simple things we can do to reduce the amount of food waste we're throwing away.
